MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Seventy incidents involving armed attacks of students on educational establishments have been registered in Russia since 2017, Russian Interior Ministry representative Larisa Plotnikova said.
"Seventy such incidents [armed attacks on schools] have been recorded in 34 regions since 2017. Law enforcement agencies prevented half of them at the stage of preparation," Plotnikova said in the Russian State Duma on Monday.
Due to this, the Interior Ministry is helping draft amendments to the rules for civilian firearms acquisition, she said. The ministry also demands that all schools be equipped with CCTV cameras.
"We advise the heads of regions to develop schools' CCTV networks integrated into the Safe City automated program system," Plotnikova said, adding that 2,500 educational establishment in Russia had no security guards in 2021.
