Duma speaker signs resolution urging Russian president to recognize self-proclaimed Donbas republics

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has said he signed a call on the Russian president for recognizing the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (the DPR and the LPR), which was approved at a Duma plenary meeting on Tuesday.

"The document has been signed," Volodin said in response to Interfax's question.

He said earlier on Tuesday that the document would be signed immediately and directed to the Russian president.
