Lavrov: Poland's proposal on OSCE European security dialogue interesting, but talks with U.S., NATO remain Russia's priority (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Russia regards Poland's proposal regarding the Renewed European Security Dialogue within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) as interesting, but talks with the United States and NATO remain a priority for Moscow at this point, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"In the context of the search for ways to overcome the growing tension in the Euro-Atlantic space, we discussed the initiative of Poland's [OSCE] presidency, which has proposed starting an informal Renewed European Security Dialogue within the OSCE," Lavrov said at a press conference after talks with Polish Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Zbigniew Rau.

"We consider this proposal interesting, because it shows that existing problems are understood and there is a willingness to do something to help remove these problems from the agenda," he said.

However, the dialogue with the U.S. and NATO is a priority for Moscow at this stage, Lavrov said.

"It is clear in advance that this conversation in Vienna will yield no results if there is no progress on the American and NATO track. Everyone understands it," Lavrov stated.
