Aliyev, Stoltenberg discuss Azerbaijani gas supply to Europe, Ukraine situation

BAKU. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev spoke with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg over the phone on Tuesday to address the situation in the South Caucasus and Ukraine and Azerbaijani gas supply to Europe, the Azerbaijani presidential press service said in a statement.

"During the phone call, the sides expressed satisfaction with the development of Azerbaijani-NATO relations and exchanged views on the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus, the ongoing processes in Ukraine, and the global energy market's status," the statement said.

Stoltenberg thanked Azerbaijan for "being a reliable supplier of gas to Europe and enlarging the volume of gas exports," it said.

"For his part, Aliyev said that Azerbaijan would remain a reliable partner and a significant exporter of energy resources," the statement said.

According to the press service, the phone call was initiated by Stoltenberg.
