Construction of National Space Center to end in 2023 - Roscosmos deputy head

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The National Space Center under construction in Moscow will be commissioned in 2024, and the construction of the Angara launch site at the Vostochny Cosmodrome will end this year, Roscosmos First Deputy General Director Maxim Ovchinnikov said.

"It is planned to finalize construction of the National Space Center in 2023 and to commission it in 2024. It is also planned to finalize construction of the Angara launch site in Vostochny by the end of this year, while special engineering equipment will be installed and tested in 2023 and the inaugural launch will be performed at the yearend," Ovchinnikov said in an interview with the Vedomosti newspaper.

As to whether the Vostochny project has a deficit of builders and whether labor conditions in Vostochny are good, he said, "Regretfully, the Amur region and the entire Far East have a substantial deficit of workforce and building materials."

"We are working together with the federal executive authorities to compensate for this deficit as much as we can. We offer good labor conditions in order to draw workforce, including foreign, help bring in workers, and facilitate migration and quarantine procedures," Ovchinnikov said.
