ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The logistics units of the Russian Southern Military District are leaving Crimea and heading to their permanent base in Stavropol territory, the district stated on Tuesday.
"Troops from a Southern Military District technical materiel formation have begun an over 500-km march to their base in Stavropol Territory after taking part in planned tactical drills at the combined arms army training ranges across the Crimean peninsula," the statement said.
Presently, the troops are on their way to train stations for embarkation. At the platforms, continuous-track vehicles such as tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and self-propelled artillery systems are being fastened.
The vehicles were taken to the platforms by automobile trawls. From there, the vehicles and drivers will travel by rail to their home regions, including Dagestan and North Ossetia.
Meanwhile, automobile columns are making their way via the Kerch Strait across the Crimean Bridge, where road checkpoints have been set up and the military automobile inspection is accompanying the columns.
The tactical exercise involved reinforced companies of Battalion Tactical Groups from combined arms army formations. The exercise took place at 15 training ranges of the district.
