Over 4,000 sites receive false bomb threats in Moscow on Tuesday - source

MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Moscow saw another series of false bomb threats on Tuesday, an informed source told Interfax on Wednesday.

"More than 4,000 educational, healthcare and transport establishments and government agencies received anonymous reports of an alleged bomb threat yesterday," the source said.

About 3,000 people were evacuated as the threats were verified at a number of sites, he said.

"None of the anonymous threats proved real," the source said.

Moscow has seen a number of false bomb threats this year. Nearly 600 sites, including schools, district courts, the prosecution service, the Federal Penitentiary Service, stores, shopping malls and gas stations, had to be checked on January 12. The threats came from foreign email servers. About 5,000 people were evacuated.
