YEKATERINBURG. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Crews of Mil Mi-8MTV5-1 military-transport helicopters and Mi-24 attack helicopters from the air force of Russia's 201st military base are training their survival skills in the Tajik mountains, the press service for the Russian Central Military District said on Wednesday.
"Special attention is being given to parachute jumps, long-distance passages and negotiating various obstacles, including water obstacles," the press service said.
Personnel are training their survival skills both within crews and individually, using specialized gear and other items at hand.
The final stage of the event will be a 24-hour wilderness survival exercise, during which the crews will have to find water and food, start a fire and make a shelter for the night, the press service said.
