MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Combat ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet waged a sea battle with mock enemy ships during an exercise in the Sea of Okhotsk, the Russian Eastern Military District's press service for the Pacific Fleet said.
"Personnel on board the Gromky corvette and the Aldar Tsydenzhapov corvettes used a PK-2 on board system, employing radar and electronic countermeasures, in an attempt to minimize the missile threat and then entered a sea battle with mock enemy ships," the press service said.
All targets were successfully destroyed as a result of accurate strikes delivered by A-190 artillery systems, the press service said. Despite the intense artillery fire, the performance of all onboard weapons was flawless.
"Upon completion on the combat training, the ships took up designated positions and conducted an exercise, which focused on the ship's anti-sabotage defense in an unsafe roadstead, during which the participants also practiced throwing grenades at mock enemy underwater warfare personnel," the press service said.
