Kyiv describes Feb 15 DDoS attack on banks, state websites as largest in Ukraine's history

KYIV. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The DDoS attack on Ukraine's banks and state websites on February 15 was the most large-scale in the country's history, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said.

"Yesterday, February 15, the most largescale DDoS attack on governmental websites and the banking sector in the history of Ukraine was carried out. Yesterday, all government departments responsible for cybersecurity worked to counter these attacks and eliminate them as soon as possible," the deputy prime minister said at a press briefing by the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, cyber police, the National Security and Defense Council, and the National Bank on Wednesday.

The cyber-attack was prepared in advance, and its cost "amounts to millions of dollars." "The goal was to destabilize the situation and incite panic," Fedotov said.
