MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad will pay a visit to Moscow and hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on February 21, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"The parties are expected to have a thorough exchange of views on the development of the situation within the country and surrounding it, with an emphasis on the prospects of facilitating a comprehensive political settlement," she said at a briefing in Moscow on Wednesday.
The ministers will discuss the activities of the Astana format on the intra-Syrian settlement, including in light of the outcomes of the 17th international meeting on Syria which took place last December, Zakharova said.
"We will consider the work of the intra-Syrian constitutional committee in Geneva. [...] Considerable attention during talks will be given to the humanitarian situation," she said.
