MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Moscow fears that the UK is planning an attack on Russia, and is calling on London to prove that it is not true, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday.
"Let Britain prove now that it's not planning to attack anyone, that it has no such intentions. Because it was the British destroyer ship that was plowing the Black Sea and entered Russian territorial waters," Zakharova said at a briefing conference in Moscow.
"As a matter of fact, that took place in June 2021, but we now have a strong feeling that maybe, Britain wants to attack us. It may have been a rehearsal," she said.
"It needs to be explained. Persuade us that you have no such plans, Mrs. Truss," Zakharova said, addressing British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
