Russian Western Military District's tanks returning to base upon completion of drills - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - A train is delivering tanks and other armored hardware belonging to Russia's Western Military District back to the home base upon completion of a military exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

"A military train carrying personnel and military hardware of units of the Western Military District's tank army has embarked on a journey back to the permanent base upon completion of routine exercises at training ranges," the Defense Ministry said.

The ministry, however, did not name the region from where the tank army's units are returning after the drills.

"The tanks and tracked armored hardware are being transported by rail to a distance of around 1,000 kilometers," it said.

The Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday released video footage that shows a train carrying a large amount of armored hardware starting to move on snow-covered terrain at nighttime.
