MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will spend over 40 billion rubles over the period until 2030 to buy new hardware and equipment, acting Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Chupriyan said at a meeting of the ministry's board.
"We have drawn up a program until 2030 intended to supply our units with new firefighting, rescue, specialized hardware and aircraft. An additional 15 billion rubles or so was allocated for this program at the end of 2021. Units of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry received new aircraft, firefighting and rescue equipment, equipment for emergency rescue operations, engineering equipment, other items for emergency firefighting and fire rescue operations, communications equipment, and foam generators," Chupriyan said.
The ministry's rescue units are expected to receive 198 pieces of hardware worth over 1.8 billion rubles, he said.
"Among other equipment, the following items will be purchased for the first time: specialized demining vehicles, vehicles for mine rescue brigades and MV-10 heavy robotic systems to defuse anti-tank and antipersonnel mines," he said.
In addition, an extra 6 billion rubles was allocated for the Emergency Situations Ministry last year to acquire firefighting, rescue and specialized equipment and aircraft and 22.3 billion rubles to equip the ministry's Arctic air force.
