MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is monitoring the escalation of tensions in Donbas and is observing the huge offensive potential of Ukrainian forces stationed along the contact line, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Indeed, we read and see the reports from there. Of course, our military has more information, considering the data coming from special sources. But it is obvious even without such information that tensions are rising," Peskov said at a press briefing on Thursday in response to a question whether the Kremlin is monitoring the exacerbating situation in Donbas.
"We have been hearing over the past day that Russia allegedly preserves a huge offensive potential on the border. But this is our territory we are talking about. Meanwhile, no one, not a single Western representative has mentioned the huge offensive potential of the Ukrainian army that exists on the contact line," Peskov said.
