Moscow deems possible to agree with Washington on heavy bomber flights

MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Moscow sees a possibility of reaching agreement with the United States on reducing risks with regard to heavy bomber flights near the national borders of either side, according to a Russian reaction to the U.S. reply on security guarantees.

"We note the American attention to the Russian idea of additional measures to reduce risks in regard to heavy bomber flights close to the sides' national borders. We see a subject for discussion and a potential for mutually acceptable arrangements. We also want to draw their attention to a no less important element of our 'package' proposal, concerning similar missions involving combat surface ships, which also involve serious risks," the Russian reply, handed to U.S. Ambassador John Sullivan in Moscow earlier on Thursday, said.
