Putin to be at Defense Ministry's Situational Center during strategic deterrence forces' exercise on Saturday - Peskov

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin will be at the Defense Ministry's Situational Center during the strategic deterrence forces' exercise planned for Saturday, and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko might join him, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"Putin will be at the Situational Center. Even test launches of this type are impossible without the head of state. You all know about his famed 'black briefcase', 'the red button' and so on," Peskov said at a press briefing on Friday.

He withheld further details as not intended for public knowledge.

Journalists asked Peskov to comment on a statement by Lukashenko, who said he was planning to visit a military exercise together with Putin. They asked whether Lukashenko meant the strategic deterrence forces' training.

"If they decide to be there together, then they will be there together. But that will depend on the decision of the heads of state," Peskov said.
