Cybersecurity cooperation with U.S. desirable in word and deed - Medvedev

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Russia is interested in cooperating with the United States in cybercrime inquiries, and Washington has declared its readiness for such collaboration, but the reality is more complicated, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

"We should foster such cooperation although, truth be told, that depends both on us and our American colleagues, who declare their readiness for a lot of things but the reality is more complicated," Medvedev said at a meeting dedicated to the development of international mechanisms to suppress cybercrime and to maintain stability in the field of information.

Medvedev said he is hoping that Washington "also understands the value of such efforts."

"Despite the current problems, which are abundant... we have here certain recent achievements," he said.

In particular, he mentioned the establishment of a Russian-U.S. working group that has helped put an end to the activity of several cybercrime networks.
