Western Military District troops start preparing for V-Day parades in Moscow, St. Petersburg

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - Servicemen of the Russian Western Military District's combined-arms army have started preparing for the V-Day parades to be held in Moscow and St. Petersburg on May 9, 2022, the district press service said.

"Dismounted ceremonial units and crews of military vehicles will be training at ranges and bases until March 2022 and will prepare weapons, hardware and uniforms, including those of the war period," the press service said.

Over 3,000 troops are preparing for the parades in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Voronezh, the district press service said, adding that all troops had been vaccinated for Covid-19 and received booster shots.

"Servicemen of the Guards Combined-Arms Army of the Western Military District decorated with the Order of Red Banner have received booster shots before taking part in the military parade on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War [of 1941-1945]. Parade participants were given booster shots upon profound medical checkups," the press service said.
