NATO can't selectively interpret indivisible security principle - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - NATO cannot selectively interpret the indivisible security principle or avoid a discussion of what it has signed up for, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"NATO colleagues will be unable to avoid a discussion of how we will continue to do what we have signed up for. They cannot selectively interpret the indivisible security concept that was approved at the summit level and ensured the interconnection between all indivisible security elements," Lavrov said in an interview with the RT television channel.

"We are in correspondence with our U.S. colleagues. We have reacted to their response to the initiatives we put forward in December. Progress on essential issues has been insignificant as of yet. We will insist on a comprehensive approach. We cannot make long-term deals on secondary issues until we approve the conceptual and political foundation of our interaction," Lavrov said.
