MOSCOW. Feb 18 (Interfax) - The situation in Donbas is escalating currently, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Unfortunately, right now we are seeing, on the contrary, an escalation of the Donbas situation," Putin said following the Russian-Belarusian talks on Friday.
This subject was discussed during his meeting with Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, Putin said.
"The Belarusian president and I noted that implementing the Minsk Agreements is essential to restoring civil peace in Ukraine and lifting tension around this country. All Kyiv has to do is sit down at the negotiating table with Donbas representatives and agree on the political, military, economic and humanitarian measures to end the conflict," he said.
"The sooner it happens the better," Putin said.
