LPR to register 17-year-olds for military draft - Pasechnik's decree

LUHANSK. Feb 18 (Interfax) - The leader of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR), Leonid Pasechnik, has signed a decree on the formation of a commission for initial registration of LPR citizens for military service and the initial registration for military service in 2022.

"I hereby resolve that commissions should be formed for initial registration of citizens for military service and approval of the active-duty and reserve personnel," the decree, published on the leader's website, said.

"The commissions (...) are to carry out the initial registration for military service of citizens born in 2005, between January 1, 2022 and March 31, 2022," it said.

Businesses and organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, have been ordered to comply with measures in the run-up to and during the initial registration for military service.

The LPR leader also instructed ministries and government departments to ensure compliance with the decree.
