MOSCOW. Jan 31 (Interfax) - Over 690,000 foreigners received Russian citizenship in 2022, the Russian Interior Ministry's press center said.
Russian citizenship was granted to 691,045 foreigners as compared to 735,385 in 2021, according to published data detailing the migration situation in Russia in January-December 2022.
A total of 13.3 million Russian passports were issued in 2022 against 11.3 million in the previous year, the Interior Ministry said. In 2022, there were issued 7.9 million internal passports, which is only slightly more than 7.4 million issued in 2021.
Over 5.4 million international travel passports were issued in January-December 2022 compared to 3.8 million in 2021.
As many as 141,300 foreign citizens were banned from entering Russia in 2022 against 176,300 the year before, the ministry said.
