Group of Belarusian peacekeepers sent to Syria on humanitarian mission after return from Lebanon - Belarusian Defense Ministry

MINSK. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Part of the Belarusian peacekeeping contingent, which has returned from Lebanon, is being sent to Syria, Valery Revenko, head of international cooperation at the Belarusian Defense Ministry, said on Thursday.

"The Department for international military cooperation at the Republic of Belarus Defense Ministry hosted a meeting with the head of the Belarusian contingent, which was part of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon. Having fulfilled their duty with honor and dignity, part of the contingent is now being sent to the Syrian Arab Republic to provide humanitarian assistance," Revenko said on Twitter.

The contingent returned to Belarus on February 9, earlier reports said.
