MOSCOW. Feb 16 (Interfax) - The new remote Earth sensing satellite for radar observation Kondor-FKA is expected to be launched into orbit in June 2023, Roscosmos said on Thursday.
"Before the launch of the new remote Earth sensing satellite for radar observation Kondor-FKA in June 2023, the state corporation Roscosmos, in collaboration with its developer, NPO Mashinostroyeniya, issued guidelines for users of remote Earth sensing data received by the space system Kondor-FKA," according to a report published on the corporation's site.
Valery Zaichko, deputy director of the Roscosmos department for navigation space systems, earlier said it was planned to launch nine remote Earth sensing satellites - Kondor-FKA No.1, the Obzor-R No.1 locator, the Resurs-P No.4, two satellites, Meteor-M No.2.3 and No.2.4, two satellites, Ionosfera No.1 and No.2, the Elektro-L No.4, and the Arktika-M No.2 - in 2023.
It was also reported that Kondor-FKA No.2 will be launched in 2024.
The series of small remote Earth sensing spacecraft Kondor-FKA is equipped with an S-range radar and can film round the clock in any weather. The equipment is intended for receiving high-quality images needed for cartography and for monitoring the Earth surface, the condition of forests and oceans and their environment.
