MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Russia's Admiral Gorshkov frigate, which is carrying new Tsirkon hypersonic missiles, is expected to take part in joint maneuvers with naval ships of China and South Africa on February 17-27.
The maneuvers will take place off the coast of South Africa.
The Russian consulate general in South Africa said on Telegram on February 13 that the Admiral Gorshkov called at the Port of Cape Town ahead of the February 17-27 exercise.
On January 25, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Admiral Gorshkov performed a simulated launch of a Tsirkon missile in the Atlantic Ocean.
On January 4, the Admiral Gorshkov embarked on a deployment to the Atlantic and Indian Oceans and the Mediterranean Sea. Russian President Vladimir Putin presided at the ship's deployment ceremony by video link.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the Kama medium-sized sea tanker is accompanying the Admiral Gorshkov on its voyage.
