MOSCOW. Feb 17 (Interfax) - Russian aircraft and artillery have hit Ukrainian forces near Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic and Olgovskoye and Magdalinovka in the Zaporozhye region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said.
"In the southern Donetsk and Zaporozhye sectors, tactical aircraft and artillery of the eastern group of forces fired upon Ukrainian units in the area of Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic and Olgovskoye and Magdalinovka in the Zaporozhye region," Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Friday.
In that area, the Ukrainian army lost over 70 troops, an infantry combat vehicle, two armored combat vehicles, two pickup trucks, an Uragan multiple rocket launcher, two D-20 howitzers and a U.S.-made M777 artillery system over the past day, he said.
"An ammo depot of the 72nd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was destroyed in the vicinity of Ugledar," Konashenkov said.
"In the Kherson area, strikes delivered over the past day killed up to 35 Ukrainian troops and destroyed 12 trucks, two Akatsiya self-propelled howitzers, and a HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket system," he said.
Two ammo depots of the 124th and 129th territorial defense brigades were hit near the city of Kherson and Vysshetarasovka in the Dnepropetrovsk region, Konashenkov said.
