MINSK. Feb 17 (Interfax) - The frequency of flights by surveillance drones near Belarusian borders has dropped multifold, the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus said.
"We force drones to land by impacting them directly with small arms, which testifies to Belarusian border guards' professionalism. Besides, we have a special technical device made domestically in Belarus. It's called Groza and is capable of suppressing the control system of an unmanned aerial vehicle," First Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian State Border Committee Igor Butkevich said, as quoted by the press service for the Belarusian State Authority for Military Industry.
"The number of drones decreased multifold just when we started actively counteracting the flights," Butkevich said.
The State Border Committee earlier reported on drones being downed in Belarus near its borders with Ukraine and EU countries on December 1, November 2 and November 16, 2022, and February 8, 2023.
