MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Units of the Russian Central Military District are supporting motorized infantry by fire of Msta-S self-propelled howitzers in the special military operation's zone in Donbas, while D-20 howitzers are striking Ukrainian infantry, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
"Artillery crews of 152mm D-20 howitzers are hitting infantry in shelters from indirect positions. Meanwhile Msta-S self-propelled howitzers are providing fire support to motorized infantry units in all sectors," the ministry said.
"The coordinated effective fire by Central Military District artillery is hindering redeployment of the enemy's reserves and is supporting the offensive," it said.
Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on February 19 that Russian forces were on offensive in the Krasny Liman and Donetsk sectors while Ukrainian troops were hit by aircraft and artillery in other areas.
