MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - The Sukhoi Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet has been hitting targets on the ground and in mid-air in the course of hostilities, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov said in an interview with Interfax.
"Nevertheless, it would be more correct if the main customer - the Russian Defense Ministry - evaluates combat effectiveness of our aircraft. I can only say that Su-57 accomplishes various missions and hits both air and ground targets during the special military operation," Manturov said.
Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and Su-34 bombers, which are now capable of precision strikes on ground targets, also demonstrate their efficiency in combat, he said.
"The successful use of our advanced aircraft in real combat raises their popularity on the global market," Manturov said.
Designed by Rostec's Sukhoi, Su-57 is manufactured at the Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aviation Plant. This is a fifth-generation multirole fighter jet designed to destroy every type of air targets in close and distant combat, as well as to strike hostile ground and surface targets, and penetrate air defenses. It performed its inaugural flight on January 29, 2010.
