MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russia is continuing to perform its function in Transdniestria with due diligence, and recommends that the Moldovan authorities be careful with matters of the Russian peacekeepers, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday.
Journalists asked Peskov to comment on a statement by new Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean, who declared the need for Transdniestria's demilitarization and Russian peacekeepers' pullout from the region in the light of Moscow's attempts at influencing democratic processes in Moldova.
"Russia has been and remains a rather responsible party in everything that concerns Transdniestrian affairs, it continues to perform the respective function. We would like to recommend our Moldovan vis-a-vis that they be very careful with such matters," Peskov said.
