BAKU. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani First Deputy Defense Minister, General Staff Chief Col. Gen. Kerim Veliyev and Georgian Defense Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Giorgi Matiashvili met in Baku on Monday to discuss the provision of peace and security in the South Caucasus, broader military-technical cooperation, and trilateral interaction between Baku, Tbilisi and Ankara.
"The provision of peace and security in the region [South Caucasus], broader cooperation in the military, military-technical and military education fields, and other issues of mutual interest have been discussed in detail at the meeting," the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The sides exchanged views on the prospective development of bilateral and trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia and discussed ways to intensify joint exercises and working meetings.
