MOSCOW. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Russian fighter jets have downed a Sukhoi Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in the Kharkov region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Monday.
"Fighter jets of the Russian Aerospace Forces have downed a Su-27 plane of the Ukrainian Air Force in air combat over Izyum in the Kharkov region," Konashenkov said.
Army aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Russian contingent have hit 98 Ukrainian artillery units on firing positions, in addition to troops and hardware in 124 areas over the past day.
"Meanwhile, air defense has intercepted one missile of a HIMARS high mobility artillery rocket system and has destroyed 15 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the vicinity of Vladimirovka, Kolomyichikha, Zmiyevka, Rubezhnoye, Ploshchanka, Krasnorechenskoye and Kremennaya of the Lugansk People's Republic, Yegorovka, Novoandreyevka, Volnovakha and Yelenovka of the Donetsk People's Republic and Lesnoye of the Zaporozhye region over the day," he said.
In all, 386 planes, 210 helicopters, 3,193 unmanned aerial vehicles, 405 air defense missile systems, 7,945 tanks and other armored vehicles, 1,031 multiple rocket launchers, 4,157 artillery systems and mortars and 8,465 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the beginning of the special military operation, Konashenkov said.
