Arbitration judge, deputy treasurer attacked by 4 unknowns in Karachay-Cherkessia

CHERKESSK. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Law enforcement agencies in Karachay-Cherkessia are searching for the perpetrators of an attack on an Arbitration Court judge and a senior treasury official, the local branch of Russia's Investigative Committee told Interfax on Monday.

"This afternoon in Cherkessk, four young men assaulted local residents, among whom were a judge from the republic's Arbitration Court and a deputy head of directorate of the Federal Treasury for the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic," a spokesperson said.

The latter was hospitalized with various injuries, he said.

It is believed that the assailants fled the scene in a VAZ 2114 vehicle.

Plan Perekhvat (interception) has been declared across the republic.

A criminal inquiry has been launched into attempted murder and a robbery attack.
