Russia favors soonest possible establishment of security zone around Zaporozhye NPP, chances exist if problem not politicized - Rosatom CEO

MOSCOW. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Russia favors the establishment of a safety and security zone around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant as soon as possible, and there are good chances to achieve this goal if the parties do not politicize the matter, Rosatom CEO Alexei Likhachev said.

"Definitely, we would like a safety and security zone at the Zaporozhye plant to be declared as soon as possible, with all the ensuing consequences," Likhachev told journalists.

Asked by Interfax about chances to reach a consensus on establishing such a zone, Likhachev replied, "Chances always exist. The thing is, the less the parties politicize this problem, the bigger the chances are."
