MINSK. Feb 21 (Interfax) - Contacts with Belarus are important for Abkhazia to overcome its international isolation, Abkhaz President Aslan Bzhania said.
"We've been in isolation for a long time owing to a large degree to sanctions by Western countries. Thanks to Russia, we are undergoing de-isolation processes," Bzhania told journalists following a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk on Tuesday.
"And contacts with Belarus are very important in this sense. We want our relations to develop in a neighborly way, with an emphasis placed on economic interaction," he said.
