MINSK. Feb 21 (Interfax) - The Belarusian authorities have checked the preparedness of territorial defense near the border with Latvia, the Verkhnedvinsk District Executive Committee said on its website on Tuesday.
"The organization of territorial defense in the Verkhnedvinsk district [of the Vitebsk region in Belarus] was checked on February 21. The work verified the ability of territorial defense management bodies to form territorial forces, alongside the readiness of military units of territorial forces to accomplish their missions," the committee said.
The check included a number of practical measures, such as tests of the notification system and assembly of persons eligible for military service and assigned to territorial forces.
