Uzbek-Indian exercise begins in India

TASHKENT. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Uzbek Defense Ministry servicemen will take part in a joint exercise with Indian troops in India, the press service for the Uzbek Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"According to the bilateral military cooperation plan signed by the defense ministries of Uzbekistan and India, 45 servicemen of the republic's Defense Ministry arrived for the joint Uzbek-Indian exercise Dustlik 2023 (Friendship 2023) to be held on the premises of the 14th Garhwal Rifles Battalion in the highland area of the Uttarakhand state in February-March," the press service said.

As part of the exercise, the troops will train searching for and eliminating mock terrorist groups, overcoming mountain obstacles and conducting combat operations in mountainous and wooded areas. There will be a variety of sports, cultural and educational events, too. The exercise will end on March 5, 2023.

Previously, Uzbek-Indian exercises took place at a combined-arms range of the Tashkent Military District in 2019, at the Chaubathiya training center in the Indian state of Uttaranchal in 2021, and at a range of the Northwestern Military District in Uzbekistan's Khwarazm region in 2022, the press service said
