Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reports Armenian attack on its positions on border, in Karabakh

BAKU/YEREVAN. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Armenian forces mounted 15 attacks on Azerbaijani positions between 8:45 p.m. on February 21 and 1:20 a.m. on February 22, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"Armenian forces stationed near Chinarli in the Tovuzgala district and Birali in the Vedi district sporadically fired sniper rifles and other weapons of various calibers at Azerbaijani army positions near Aghdam in the Tovuz district and the Sadarak district in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic," the ministry said.

In addition, Armenian armed detachments fired upon Azerbaijani army positions in the area of Tazakend in the Kalbajar district (East Zangezur Economic Region), the city of Shusha and the Khojavand district (Karabakh Economic Region), the ministry said.

The Armenian Defense Ministry refuted the report.

"A statement by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, which claimed the alleged Armenian fire on Azerbaijani positions in the northeastern and western sectors of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on February 21 and the early hours of February 22, is untrue," the press service for the Armenian Defense Ministry said.
