MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Armed Forces delivered a strike on a workshop near the city of Sumy that was used to produce and repair large-caliber mortars and munitions for the Ukrainian army, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
"A strike delivered by the Russian Aerospace Forces near the city of Sumy hit a workshop used to produce and repair large-caliber mortars and ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces," Konashenkov said.
In addition, Russian air defense systems shot down nine U.S.-made HIMARS system missiles and ten Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the Kherson and Kharkov regions and the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics in the past day, he said.
"A total of 386 planes, 210 helicopters, 3,213 unmanned aerial vehicles, 405 air defense missile systems, 7,979 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,037 vehicles of multiple rocket launchers, 4,179 field artillery guns and mortars, and 8,494 special military automobiles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation," Konashenkov said.
