MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee and Office director of the Chinese Communist Party's Central Foreign Affairs Commission, has said at negotiations with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that the dynamics of Russian-Chinese relations remains high and he is hoping for "the achievement of new agreements."
"My dear friend, I am ready to exchange views on issues of mutual interest with you and am expecting the achievement of new agreements," Wang told Lavrov.
"Owing to the strategic course of President Xi Jinping and President Putin, the Chinese-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and strategic interaction in the new era have maintained high development dynamics," he said.
"Despite the fluid international situation, China and Russia have invariably kept their strategic resolve and have been progressing towards the formation of a multipolar world order in a firm and confident manner," Wang said.
"We stay committed to multipolarity and are firmly opposed to unilateral actions and hegemony. We invariably find a way for the development of our countries consistent with the national specifics while protecting our sovereignty, security and development interests," he said.
Wang Yi also said Moscow and Beijing "are constantly unlocking the potential for diversified cooperation between China and Russia."
"No matter how the international situation changes, China has been and remains committed to work with Russia to make efforts to maintain the positive tendency of developing relations between the large powers," he said.
China "will continue working on developing its country through modernization and the development of China will definitely become an additional opportunity for the whole world," he said.
"Our development and Chinese modernization will be opening new horizons for development of cooperation not only with Russia, but also with all countries of the world, enriching the essence of interaction with all the partners," Wang Yi said.
Lavrov, for his part, said the relations between Moscow and Beijing "are developing confidently and dynamically."
"Despite the high turbulence on the global scene, we are demonstrating unity, readiness to defend each other's interests on the basis of respect for international law and the central role of the UN," he said.
Russia and China "continue close coordination of foreign policy efforts, speaking for the formation of a more open, democratic and fairer system of international relations," he said.
"Most countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America that don't accept attempts to force a confrontational agenda and attempts to deter the development of those states that manifest independence and secure their national interests are interested in that," Lavrov said.
"I am certain that we will continue walking this path, which is objective and is determined by history itself," Lavrov said.
