Caps on nuclear warhead delivery vehicles to stay in effect while Russia suspends New START's fulfillment - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - The Russian military will be complying with the caps on nuclear warhead delivery vehicles envisaged by the New START treaty, according to first deputy head of the Russian Defense Ministry's International Military Cooperation Department Yevgeny Ilyin.

"As for the caps on nuclear warhead delivery vehicles, they will also be complied with during the paused fulfillment of the treaty and, therefore, the exchange of notifications under the 1988 agreements between the USSR and the United States has also been arranged, it exists and will be fully carried out," Ilyin said at a joint meeting of the Federation Council committees on foreign affairs and defense and security on Wednesday.

"The Defense Ministry is actively monitoring the U.S. activity, both the fulfillment of its obligations and violations," Ilyin said.
