MINSK. Feb 22 (Interfax) - Belarusian border guards are conducting a two-week scheduled exercise, the Belarusian state-run news agency BelTA said with the reference to the Belarusian State Border Committee.
"The goal of the exercise is to check the units' readiness for practical deployment and operation of command posts outside permanent bases," the report said.
The primary objectives "are to raise the combat and mobilization preparedness of territorial branches of the border service and to enhance the readiness of operative commands to supervise standard and attached units under various circumstances," the State Border Committee said.
The exercise "creates a complex, dynamic environment, which allows maximizing the cohesion of units," it said.
Enhanced protection of the state border, detection, blocking and elimination of armed groups, and containment of reconnaissance-and-sabotage teams are being trained during the exercise.
