MOSCOW. Feb 22 (Interfax) - The Russian Baltic Fleet has conducted an air defense exercise involving over ten ships and boats.
"The ships practiced the joint employment of forces and resources of naval air defense systems in repelling enemy aerial strikes," the Baltic Fleet said in a statement on Wednesday.
Over ten surface ships and boats were involved in the drills. "Sukhoi Su-24 bombers and Mil Mi-24 and Kamov Ka-27 helicopters of the fleet's naval air force simulated enemy actions," it said.
"When approaching the firing position, anti-aircraft artillery systems, AK-630 artillery systems, and other naval air defense assets imitated the destruction of the aerial targets. The destruction of low-flying targets, including unmanned aerial vehicles, was also practiced," it said.
The air defense exercise was held in Baltiysk in the Kaliningrad region and was planned in advance, it said.
