MINSK. Feb 22 (Interfax) - A shipment of new Mil Mi-35M helicopter gunships and Sukhoi Su-30SM aircraft is expected to be delivered to the Belarusian Armed Forces this year, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said.
"The delivery of a shipment of new Mi-35M helicopter gunships and Su-30SM aircraft is planned this year. Weapons and aircraft will continue to be upgraded in the foreseeable future," the state news agency BelTA quoted Khrenin as saying at a ceremonial meeting on Fatherland Defenders' Day on Wednesday.
"The Armed Forces are being actively equipped with new and modernized types of weapons. The domestic military industry is playing a considerable role in this. Military-technical cooperation with our strategic ally, the Russian Federation, is developing intensively, and the Belarusian army has received a regiment set of S-400 air defense systems and an Iskander missile battalion over the past few months alone," he said.
