MINSK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said he does not see any point in Poland's closure of traffic across the border.
"We're not travelling there. We just stop by in Poland or they hook a trailer in our territory and haul it. Poles, the EU drop by in our territory, we're taking their trailer and transport it further. We have established this procedure a long ago. We're also not patting them on their heads. Why did they do this now?" the BelTA state-run news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying to reporters on Saturday.
Not only Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan are suffering from such decisions, but Polish cargo companies as well, he said. "Then why are you cutting those who feed you off? Today, especially when Russian hydrocarbons are under sanctions, Kazakhstan provides hydrocarbons and oil to Europe," he said.
Warsaw wants to show "its importance before the patron who recently visited it," he said.
