MINSK. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Belarus is finalizing the development of an air-defense missile system, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said.
"The development of an intermediate-range air-defense missile system with a respective guided air-defense missile is nearing completion. Hopefully, the prime minister and the defense industry supervisor will impress us this year," the state-run media outlet SB. Belarus Segodyna quoted Lukashenko as saying at a meeting on the financing of military goods procurement in Minsk on Monday.
Belarusian plants supplied over 500 pieces of new weapons and military hardware to the Belarusian Armed Forces last year, Lukashenko said. Six models were commissioned, among them an upgraded Uragan-M multiple rocket launcher and two attack drones.
