MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Journalist Ivan Safronov, convicted of treason, has been transferred to a penitentiary in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, according to his family.

"Ivan Safronov has been transferred to Penitentiary No. 7 in the Krasnoyarsk Territory," Safronov's family and friends said in a statement on Monday.

Penitentiary No.7 is a high-security penitentiary for first-time male offenders. It is located in the village of Areiskoye in the Yemelyanovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Back on September 5, 2022, the Moscow City Court sentenced Safronov to 22 years in a high-security penitentiary and a 500,000-ruble fine on two treason counts. An appeal panel upheld the sentence.
