WASHINGTON. Feb 28 (Interfax) - The United States believes that all problems over the Strategic Arms Reductions Treaty (New START) could be solved, if Moscow decided to resume its participation in it, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for arms control Mallory Stewart said on Monday.
All these problems can be solved if Moscow chooses to return to transparency, stability and nuclear risk reduction, she said during her speech at the Brookings Institute think tank.
The U.S. is still ready to let Russian inspectors into its facilities, particularly for Russia to make sure of conversions, and ready to take part in the Bilateral Consultative Commission to discuss whatever issues Russia has in relation to the treaty's implementation, the diplomat said, adding that Washington is ready to continue this constructive work.
Russia's decision to suspend its participation in the New START will not affect U.S. and allies' plans to aid Ukraine, Stewart said.
