Blinken meeting with Kazakh FM at start of Astana visit

ASTANA. Feb 28 (Interfax) - U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kazakhstan's capital in the early hours of Tuesday on an official visit, Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aibek Smadiyarov told Interfax.

"The U.S. secretary of state arrived in Astana last night," Smadiyarov said.

Blinken is currently holding talks with Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi. The meeting is taking place behind closed doors.

A C5+1 meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries and the U.S. secretary of state is due to take place in the second half of the day.

The Kazakh Foreign Ministry has also announced a press conference of Blinken and Tileuberdi.
